I bought a 8N parts tractor over the phone, went to pick it up today. I was disappointed that it wasn't a 8N. I needed the back-end. Owner was out the road with a Big Rig. Will, I bought it anyway and took it home. Then I started looking things over, it has the aluminum dash, the clip on fuel cover and the two rib fenders with serial #8432 on the block with no freeze plugs, BUT the rear axles do have the rivets in the center. Engine does turn over. I don't know if I should part it out or maybe it's worth something to a collector.

Please don't part it out! People like me are looking for a decent genuine 1939 9N. I keep running into supposed 1939 9N's only to inform the owners that they really have a later 2N.

It may be very valuable! Do you know if the hood is aluminum? You have have just run into a gem. If the hood is aluminum and you do indeed part it out though I know of a guy looking for one. Post some pics?

Many things to check to see if it is still fairly original. The grill, radiator, dash and governor just to name a few. Pictures would really be a big help.

Here are some pictures

Yeah, the correct radius rods, starter button on the panel. How about a shot from the rear showing the fender mounts? They should be solid. I think the wheel was supposed to be 4 spoke but for some reason they almost never are.

Well from what I can see, it does have some early 9N features besides what you mentioned. I see the starter button and key switch on the dash; the large screw-on shifter ball -yes it does screw on but may be a bugger getting it off; gas tank original 9N with filler spout central; may be CM HALL headlights; hydraulic oil dipstick on top cover. I cannot tell if the radiator is the large non-pressurized style; if the generator is still there ?the ?A? small one used a square voltage regulator under the dash/steering box; and the aluminum horizontal bar grille is missing as is the 4-spoke steering wheel and chrome rad cap. Can you post pix of the right side?

Your serial number caught my eye. I have SN 8470 in my inventory. Whenever I see a number that looks close to any of mine I like to check it out. Having tractors of consecutive SN would be rare.

This shifter is the one piece common cast lever and ball, the screw on knob type was only on the first few hundred tractor built.
