I just came in from baling and stacking… rain's moving in in the next day or so (with severe storms in the forecast here in the Middle West). Got a really nice crop off this first cutting!

There's your "dropped bales," Tall T! :)

And here they are on the trailer. I got calls from two customers before I started this afternoon asking if I had baled yet!

Ed,

It's obvious you live up to God's advice:
"Strive for perfection in all things."

Sounds like the weather will have a baleful effect on your farm activity. :)

Is there a 6 cyl in that 4 wheel beauty?

I made 2 inaugural runs on my corduroy road just now.
But with the rake totally loaded up with blackberry vines my first attempt to drive up it after backing down the ramp in 1st, failed because the rear wheels spun on the first half log. Added some dirt in front of the log it and it worked.

Interestingly, right now a few miles away someone is wanting to trade a JD Frontier BB2060 Box blade for a 72" rake, which if I didn't need this rake MORE than a Box Blade sounds like a good deal.

Cheers,
Terry

If you mean the truck, no, it's "just" a 3/4 ton Tradesman with the 5.7 Hemi. :D My first Dodge/RAM pickup, and so far, I'm liking it pretty good.

I don't have a rake, but have wanted one on occasion. I *do* have a box blade, and find it handy (right tool for the job) for certain tasks.

I like what you did to build your ramp, too! Clever, and in a "use up and make do" kind of way!

I meant that beautiful front wheel assist tractor actually.
Seems to me I heard you say something about it elsewhere.

Ya, the rake sure works for my needs.
I swivel it backwards sometimes and back into an unbroken trail, then turn it around and pull out. It's amazingly effective for blackberry canes because they all cling to each other.

Here's the result of one pass (under the raised rake).
The rest on the left is what I drug out in two passes.
Some Salmon Berry sticks in there too.

The road will take off to the left around the cedar tree and nothing much to clear away there. Rich black soil!!

Funny story.
Last weekend I ran into my Japanese friend and his daughters.
They think it is hilarious that his shoulders are exactly at my belt buckle. So he says in his best very Japanese English, "What people call you?" I said, Too Tall, Tall for short, Tall T, and when I got to "Double T" his eyes lit up and he says, "TwoT".
Even sounds Japanese, so now I have a Japanese nickname, TooTee

Ah - that's my NH Boomer 8N, which has a 50hp Shibaura 2.2L 4-cyl diesel. A very handy machine as well!

"Tootee-san," I love it! :p

I'm five foot sixteen myself (am starting to shrink - used to be an inch taller in my yoot), so I'm with ya' there!

Looks like you need to put a hitch on that baler and get a wife or girlfriend to drive the boomer. My wife used to drive while I stacked. She didn't really like it, and said that the "kicker" baler when I bought it was the best anniversary present that she ever got.
