My friend has a 2n nice little rig
It just quit moving forward or backward
Pto still turns any ideas what broke
There was no noise or anything just stop moving
He wants to give it to me i just wondered what might be wrong
Before I haul it home
 
Bswindle,A little more info needed.
Does the PTO still turn when it is in gear and the clutch is let out?
Does it make any noises when it is in gear and the clutch is let out?
Remove the right side inspection cover(dipstick) and see if the pinion shaft coupler is still intact.
It it is then it could be ring gear rivets sheared, ring and pinion gears bad,spider gears bad or a unlikely broken axle.
 
There is a shaft between the transmission and he rear end that could have broken or the rear differential could be damaged.
You can remove the round inspection panel on the right to check the shaft.

Agreed. At least it will under load.
For whatever reason my 9N will spin the PTO shaft with the
Sherman step-up in neutral under no load but it can be stopped
with a 2 x 4 quite easily. It doesn't spin fast enough to run the
hydraulic pump and make the 3 pt work but mine still spins.
It had me posting a similar question several years ago.
