New Driveway Cut In With A Box Blade

Got a little bit done on our driveway last night after work, gotta go back over it again once it dries out a bit.
I love my little 1949, dug right in, got about 375 LF of sod peeled back, hopefully the rain stays away for the weekend.
Amazing how a few hours on the tractor makes you realize the things you stressed about during the week seem to really be so meaningless.
Have a good weekend all

I loaned out my 3000 to a Bud for a week are so and I get the itch to plow up a field and plant some beans, My 93 year old neighbor
ask me to do it for her... I ask my other neighbor If I can use his 3000 I have never drove it he is mechanically incline and can fix it his self. He says yes BUT WE (we as me) has never fixed his PS leak.. He has to mow his field and when he is done I can have it. So I tell'em not run it with a dry pump to come over and I will give him some PS fluid. He comes over for some fluid and not long after returns with a leaking supply line for his 3000. It has a long rub thru spot on it the quickest way to repair it is to braze it up but that's a NO-GO.... as soon as I heat it, it opens up a 1" long hole because the metal is so thin in that spot. I make him up a new line (what I should have done in the first place)

Later on he drops off his key I go get his 3000 and something is not right the clutch is slipping... I started up one of my N's that had not ran in close to 3 years. I have not needed it since I had went to bigger tractors.

I had forgot how ruff a N's ride was it may be the tires were loaded and I had unloaded them. It has 12.4's that I DON"T like on a N I will say it did plow better with out loaded tires. If it did not bog down I was able to raise the lift a little to keep the RPM's and tire slip up if needed.

The N I use to do all my plowing with had a Zane live thang the hydraulic action was fast enoufh that when it got under a heavy load with a 2 bottom plow The draft worked much faster to unload the plow with no interaction by me :)

The other N had 11.2's loaded but the ability of it to slip the tires keeps the wheel speed up... A N's non-live hydraulics are dependent on wheel speed while in gear  for those big tar lubbers yes you give something up...

My 3000 will be back home next week the N will get parked for what I hope is forever...

Those little tractors are very handy. There are 9 tractors on this farm - the majority 100 horsepower and up (with nice cabs). I still prefer my little 8N for moving snow or blading the lane. It also seems to make me smile more that the other workhorses.

Thanks for posting, nice pic. The 8n ford is one of the most fun tractors I have ever operated, that is something many people will never understand. I have many tractors and 2 8ns, and for many jobs the 8n is the tractor I chose. Yes I do have a 3cyl diesel.
