ok folks, another wheel question. i have found a nice set of back tires and wheels that were on a
4000 ford. will they bolt to my 8n. thanks in advance.

They will bolt on but the rims will be 2" too wide and the tires will be 2 or 3 sizes too large.

I would not advise using them on an 8N.

Buck,12.4 x 28 is about the biggest tire I would want on a 8N for normal use, with it all ready to fast high geared reverse .

Agreed.

The OEM 11.2 tires are just right for a 9/2/8N.

I have 12.4s on my 51 and find that they are a bit too large even with a Sherman combination transmission.

For what it's worth, any hat type or 6 looped rim and any 8 on 6" lug center will interchange on ALL of the smaller Fords from 1948 til 1983. 8Ns, Jubilees, Hundreds, Thousands, even the 26/3600s.
But as stated already, all of those later tractors used 1 or 2 tire sizes larger. You are be best served by keeping the correct tire size on your 8N which is 11.2 X 28.

I'll add another voice for the 11.2's.
Making a too fast tractor even faster is the common complaint with too large tires.
And if you can feel the speed increase.....the other half of that math equation is equally important. You've lost pulling power grunt too.
A N is a capable little workhorse. Keep the engineers design muscle intact....run 11.2's

car, truck, tractor...math is math.
I remember buying a new Chevy truck back in 87 and driving it from the dealer to my shop. Add-a-leaf in the front, 2" blocks in the rear...so I could run 33's. There, looks better, stance is better.
and now it was a flat-out DOG. Put the silly looking tiny factory skinnies back on for winter......it was a real pull down a house truck again...lol
