2N Hyd locks up under heavy load

I picked up a 500# mower with a 3 point boom on my 2N with a new cylinder and piston and new control valve and pressure release. and could not lower it until bleed down. I used the original fork control spring attached to yoke and cyclinder. Could it be weak or should I look elsewhere for the problem? I realize I could take off the side plate and shove the control valve in.

That spring could very well be weak. I had that problem on my TO 20 Ferguson years ago and that was the problem. I cut some off the spring hook and reattached it and fixed it. That was about 40 years ago and it still works.

Dirty oil can contribute to sticking control valve too.

I'm going to first look at the control valve attachment to the forks. Could be one side slipped out. I fixed one other friends 9N, like that by putting a "Z-loop plastic" around the fork just above the control valve attachment.
