I'm not saying it's a good price, seems a little high but what do I know lol. I just know you love these machines and figured you'd like to look at it.

Thanks Big Trees.
Yeah, they're my favorites.
If you asked on Tractor Talk board "What's the best medium tractor ever built (in that era)?" the 4000 diesel consistently comes out on top of the heap - or a close second to
the Massey 165.
I wish I could have, er, keep one.
I've had a few that I fixed up. But always ended up selling them.
They're just a little too big for my purposes.
I know I could solve that by buying more land - if only.
They are surprisingly simple, and easy to work on. As easy as an N really. And I'll bet you could split one quicker than you could an N because it doesn't have that darned
wishbone front steering.
The price on the one in the ad is right in the zone for these parts. Assuming the tin, tires, engine, gears, etc are good. He says it could use some front end work.
That's really no harder than an N and not expensive either.
My pal Kenny has one just like it for sale. Same price. His has a fresh engine though.
Here are some pics of a couple of 4000s that I've had.
If you have the room and no tree branches to mow under you would love running/owning one.

Here's the first one I had. It had a rod out of it when I bought it but I found a good engine for it and rebuilt the front end. It was a diesel.

This was a gasser I bought. Sold the loader and parted the rest of it out to build the pretty one. Still have the rear tires and rims in the shed.

This is the pretty one I had and quasi restored. It was a diesel.

Here's another gasser. I traded most of this one to Kenny for stuff. Another gasser.

Thanks for sharing the pics, UD. Those all look like solid pieces of working machinery. I'm sure one day I will add a 3000/4000 to the collection but unfortunately not anytime soon. I thought of you and just wanted to pass the listing on so you could view it. Hopefully some day in the near future I will be able to get a tractor with a loader like that. There's so much stuff I need to do with a loader. One day, one day lol.

Take care, UD.
