9N Aftermarket Head??

I have a 9N with a different looking head. It is not stock. The best way to describe it is that the upper radiator hose neck seems to drop directly in the head. It doesn't have the narrowing tube across top like on a stock head. Also, there is a "shelf" that protrudes a little over the manifold. There are no part numbers, or casting marks. Anyone know what this is??

A photo would help!

"Sherman" made lots of accessories or improvements for the "N" tractors, including high compression cylinder heads, that MAY be what you have.

Put a magnet to it.
If it doesn't stick it's likely a Sherman aluminum head and worth half the price of an N.
If it sticks you've got something or other.

(quoted from post at 12:37:22 05/16/16) It is aluminum. What is it worth approximately?? How much more compression does it make over stock?
t is 7.5:1 vs stock 6.1:1

I haven't seen one sell for a long time.
10,15 years ago there were a couple of them sold on Ebay for upwards of $1K.
Guys would Polish them and put them on their tractor as a gew gaw.
The market for that kind of stuff has peaked though.
If it is a true Sherman - and I'm no authority on them - I'll bet it's still worth a fast $500. Probably more.
If you are going to sell it I would do it on Ebay. Still a market for that sort of stuff there. Big audience there and it's small enough to ship easily.
Get enough for a regular head and most of a new set of tires.
It's a nice find.
