8n won't start

I bought an 8N about a month ago. It worked fine until the solenoid went out (my grandfather owned an 8n when it was new, so I grew up working on these and know a bad solenoid). Slapped a new solenoid on it and it fired right up just fine when I hit the button. I worked all around the farm for 5 days with no issues, started with the first push of the button every time. Tuesday, I get on it to mow the pasture, get about an hour of mowing in, and it dies like it is out of gas, luckily right up next to the front fence. I let it cool off for several hours and tried to start it up, no dice. Covered it with a tarp since we have had rain since. This morning (Saturday), still no dice. It is a side mount distributor with 12V.

So here is what I have done so far:
Check plugs, they all needed replacing, so I did that. Nice blue spark at all of them.
Checked the gas line, it flows out of the bottom of the carb nicely. I don't smell gas unless I open the gas tank or the bottom of the carb. The gas is new.
Tried a new ignition coil because there just happened to be one in the shop still in the package (just bought this farm a week before the tractor). Still nothing.
Electric dial wavers when I turn the key and it cranks fine, just no starting up.

Distributor cap, spark plug wires, and the generator were all brand new when I bought the tractor. I know I am missing something, but I just can't think what.

rhiarth.........you do know even the side mount dizzy has points don't you? And surprizingly enuff, the points (0.025) kenn slip closed and guess what??? NO SPARKIES!!! Summtimes the BRASS screw that holds the points to the steel plate kenn strip. First thing I'd due is replace the BRASS screw 8-32x3/16........HTH, the amazed Dell

What do you mean it flows nicely out the bottom of the carb.? Will it fill a pint jar in 2 to 3 minutes?

It takes three thing to run, spark at the right time, fuel, and compression.

When my side mount 8n fails to start, it is usually because of no spark.
Good luck

Dell, I am aware of the points. The set that was on it when it died looks pretty good, but I went ahead and put a new set on it and got the gap set correctly (or at least
I believe I do). I even used the old dollar bill polishing trick on the points. Still no dice. I get plenty of blue spark at the plugs when I pull them and spark them on
the block.

R Geiger, I usually go with spark issues too (all too easy for these old tractors to burn out an electrial part), but it appears that I am getting spark just fine from
everything I can tell. The gas will easily fill a pint in 2 minutes.

Since it was running just fine (no sputtering or anything) for an hour and then just acted like it ran out of gas, I don't get it.

Any other suggestions?

It gave a good strong pop when I sprayed the starter fluid in the cylinder, but not in the carb. I guess I might have a carb issue... ugh!
