9N distributor

Have distributor off for tune up, How much end play is acceptable in the shaft that the rotor mounts on? Look like I have about 1/8 inch. Is this OK? Thanks for comments.

Phlash,Well side play in the shaft is what matters the most,too much side play and the points can not set and stay at the correct setting.If you have more than ,001-.002 you need to replace the worn bushings.If it has 1/8" end play that is to much,the tang could almost jump out of the cam shaft slot if the rotor did not hold it in place.

Last count I had 8 Fords with front mount distributors. All of them have some end play. Not a problem.
