Alternator Mount Pictures?

Anyone have any pictures of how a new alternator mounts to the tractor (8N, front mount). Kit purchased from a site that ships to Canada--pictures included are not great, but I won't know if I can figure it out anyway until i get out the cabin where the tractor lives, and where there's no internet, so I'd love to take some better pics with me.

Thanks,

-Paul

Hey Ken, I know you have been here long enough to know that Filler is considered a NO NO.
If you like it like that, fine with me. Just keep a good Fire Extinguisher on board. Would hate to see you lose it.

Thanks.

I was really hoping to see better how the bracket at the bottom of the alternator fits. (I'm hoping it'll be obvious when I get out there...)

Not having a filter doesn't guarantee no fire. I had the sediment bulb break on me last fall when I was trying to start the tractor. I've no idea how it broke--but there was suddenly a fire on the side of my tractor with fuel pouring out of the tank into it...

The lower bracket is just two pieces of metal welded together.
Fastens to the tractor with one bolt. Very simple.

A filter is the best thing I ever did to my 9n. Mine is under the hood not next to the manifold. The super fine rust will pass right through the brass screens.

There are more gas tractors around here with filters than without.

Can kinda see the bottom bracket in this pic. You don't have to tear it down at all to put the new alt on. I just did it while replacing the front axle pin and bushing
and thus the tear down.

Thanks all!

It turned out to be pretty obvious after all. Biggest problem was that a PO had welded the bolt onto the generator bracket (and that bolt wasn't in the kit, so I presume they expected me to reuse it) so I had to run to the store for a new bolt. Getting the fan belt on was a bit tricky, too (since I hadn't torn anything down). But it only took a couple minutes.

The wiring harness was wonderful, and went on very easily. Amazingly, no debugging was required. Everything went together perfectly on the first try. (Except the coil didn't come with a gasket, so it didn't fit tightly until I reinstalled the old gasket...)

And the best thing of all was how quickly the tractor started once I had it all together. It hadn't run since November (when the sediment bulb broke and there was a fire), but it started with less than a second of cranking!

Thanks FD, I know...This is not my tractor...
