Recently acquired my first tractor, 1946 Ford 2n. Yesterday noticed fluid leaking from rear axle housing. the nut and stud are completely missing. I am assuming that I will have to take the entire trumpet off to repair. Wondering if there were any other options. Thanks.

Do you mean the big stud for the 3pt lift are or one of the many small studs the bolt the trumpet to the rear case ? If it is a small trumpet stud , which sometimes unthread with the nut when being removed , you can replace it with another stud or bolt if the internal threads are still good .

One of the small studs. I was hoping I could simply thread new 7/16" bolt . Look like the original stud is 1-3/4" long. Thanks.

There is a plate that has the Lower Link support one side connects to lift and the other side of plate bolts to the axle shaft. The manual shows a stud screw 7/16" x 1-3/4".

Gofish,Chances are that the lower lift arm pin is loose in the axle trumpet and caused the small stud to loosen up and fall out.The axle and trumpet will have to be removed to repair the loose pin and leak.
