Neat setup indeed but I don't like to deal with people who want to see how much they will get for it, if he wants to sell to the highest bidder then send it to the auction, don't put it on craigslist and waste my time

(quoted from post at 12:10:49 05/02/16) I'd really like to see the pto drive that allows that to dump. I'd enjoy fabbing one up as a wagon/dump cart is on my need-to-acquire list.

It looks like the PTO shaft drives a Hyd pump which raises the bed.

orrect. And that handle sticking out over the left front tire operates a rod connected to valving at pump to control raise/lower.

Looks like one of my old wagons. Ran off huydraulic line not a pto shaft.

that dump subframe looks just like a PTO driven setup from a dumptruck. they just modified it to reach the tractor as opposed to the truck transmission

That's not too bad since he stated it in the ad . It's is the people that make a deal over the phone or facebook and sell it to someone for more before you get there to pick it up .

(quoted from post at 18:03:25 05/02/16) It may be great for grain or firewood but I don't believe that frame would handle 2 yards of dirt.

It kind of looks like aluminum paneling in the bed.

Yeah, the seller's description, especially his short paragraph about pricing was definitely a huge red flag. I don't want any kind of dealings with someone like that. But I sure do like that setup. The idea seems plausible with that era, before aux hydraulic ports on tractors. I've seen a lot of hydraulic dump wagons with hydraulic lines running the length of the frame but I had never seen a PTO operated dump wagon before...didn't know if that was a factory job or a farmerized feature.

pretty neat, its a pto powered hydraulic pump designed for a dump truck, normally this would be mounted to the truck frame, and have a short shaft coming off the trucks pto opening where a gear would be slid and mesh with i believe 2nd gear in the truck when the truck is in nutural not sure how a tractor pto speed relates to the gear speed in a truck, but may be close, the scissors frame assembly is standard 6 yd dump truck stuff, last one of these i drove was very fast raising, really too fast, if one wasnt careful spreading gravel, it could set one on his butt, truck wise , the frame running gear i dont know, i too would be worried about filling this with dirt. looks like some pin wear on that one pivot ,dirt might be too much weight and too easy to flip this thing, but partial loads, say 3 yds would probably work just fine, as would full loads of manure , firewood, as long as it wasnt something like green oak , new replacement scissors hoist for a 1 ton truck is 1600 now, this one is made heavier

I used to have a dump trailer I used for hauling construction debris to the land fill.
It was built from the back half of an F350.
I put a 6 hp Tecumseh on it to run the pump but it lifted so fast the engine didn't have enough oomph to lift the bed if the load was heavy.
I had to gear it down with a jack shaft.
Then it worked good. I think a 540 pto would probably be close.
Agree about them wanting to sit down on their butt.
One winter I went to dump it and the load was frozen into the trailer. When the lift went over the top it lifted the rear tires of my 3/4 ton about 6" off the ground and hung there.
I had to go claw all the frozen debris out of the trailer.
Not fun.

Not really, only need to engage it for a minute or so to raise the body, just stand clear and use good sense

(quoted from post at 00:59:51 05/04/16) That PTO shaft is a real widow maker.......
very moving part is when a person does not have the sense to keep away from it! duuuhhhh?

I think what Phil might have been thinking is the same thing I was thinking. If that looooong shaft broke loose and started flailing around it would be pretty hard to duck it.

Seems to me that it should have had some kind of guard or at least a couple loose collars to keep it from flailing around loosely should it break loose.
