Sherman Combo

I have pulled the motor on my 8n for a rebuild . I am going to pull the Sherman Combo and sell it . It works perfect but I seldom use the 8n since I bought the 3000 . The stock 4 speed will be all I need and I could use the money .

What areas should I look at to make sure it is in good shape , I don't want to sell a lemon unless any problems are disclosed and priced accordingly .

Thanks , Ken . bonnerdaleken @ yahoo.com

Did it shift smooth, not noise, popping
out of gear etc? They are a pretty
rugged and reliable unit

John Smith has an excellent page on disassembling and inspecting Sherman transmissions. A lot of good information.

Never rumbled or popped out of gear . Low gear worked good when I pulled stuff and high gear worked good driving 1/2 mile down the paved road between driveways .

I'm interested in seeing what you ask for it. Surely you could get $700 to $800 for it in useable shape?

Thanks for the John Smith Tip . I have read his pages a lot . There is so much there I never knew that part was there .

It looks like a second generation with open shift rails . Every thing is good and usable but not perfect . I need to weight it for a freight quote before I list it on ebay , who takes a 10% cut . I might get more if I wanted to sit it out but I would like to get some bills paid . I have seen $750 - $900 on ebay .

At first I thought it was a vent but now I figure someone lost the cap and that was what fit at the time ? I was just looking at that and decided to take a brake before making something that would work and not have a hole in it .

You will need to crate it that's a job in its self... I have always had the material on hand it was just the time involved to cut and assy the plywood.... My guess crated up 65lbs are less....
