Are these real rare? For sale for $200 on CL. Never seen them before. I don't have any use for them except making a cool looking tractor if I ever come up with 2 spare
rear wheels, but maybe someone else has interest in them?

Not mine, etc,etc

I'm guessing they are homemade, and also guessing that the guy is not a tractor guy since not a chance of making them fit a 9n!

Yes,
Someone posted about those a while back but I think it was on the Ford board.
Someone there mentioned they might be to make the tire track narrow, like for a vinyard tractor. That is my guess too. You would need to remove your fenders and maybe step plates to use them. To use them for duals you would need the special stud nuts like is used to fasten pie weight plates.

Very interesting, makes sense indeed, although would they fit over the brake drum I just realized?

You're right. They wouldn't fit over the brakes.
Hmmm.
Are those bolt holes 8 on 6" or 8 on 8"?
If 8 on 8 they might fit the 3 cyl 4000 and derivitaves with inboard brakes.

Very likely as they would have been a wider tractor as well, the earlier Ford's wouldn't have had room for the running boards with the wheels moved in as far as these are offset
