8n coolant leak

Drain the fuel out of the tank. Disconnect the fuel lines and wires to the lights if it has them. Unbolt the hood at the dash and at the front under the grille. Pick the hood up and off with the gas tank and set it aside. The gas tank is attached to the hood so don't worry about it falling out or anything. Drain the radiator and take it off. About to take off the radiator on this one. HTH, Andy.

Here's another pic if it helps any. Just need to disconnect the hoses and such once the hood is off and the radiator is drained. Yours will look a bit different since it's the newer 8n type, still pretty much same deal. When you take the hood off, stand in front of the tractor, grab it by the side skirts, and then lift the front up towards you so it won't seem so heavy. when you have it high enough, walk backwards till it's off the tractor. Or just get a helper and it a ton easier.

And I guess I'd better tell ya 'bout these too. Those bolts that hold the radiator down can be a real PITA. some times someone has put better bolts in already but if not you'll want to change them out if you don't just end up cuttin' them off trying to get radiator off. And here's some more pics.

(quoted from post at 12:44:23 04/26/16) I like that Soundguy, "CUSS NUTS".
There are a lot of cuss nuts on these old tractors.

And on the eighth day, God created the cutting torch. Since I've learned how to use mine, much cussing is replaced by the sound of oxygen and fuel blowing away such fasteners.

Oxygen, propane (or acetylene) and new bolts are cheap.

Frustration, busted knuckles, broken wrenches, gallons of penetrating oil and time are expensive.

:)

It's really not that hard of a job. take the hood of one day and you'll feel like you just did a huge and major project because it will look so different. The next day
plan for a really ruff time getting the bolts off and you might get lucky and get them off easy. If the bolts don't give you too much trouble it takes an hour at most.
