Distributor swap

I have a 49 8n with a fro?t mount distributor. I have access to the parts off a newer model with a side mount, can I swap them? Is it worth the trouble? Yes I am having problems with the original. Thanks

No.Fix the problem. It's not worth the work and trouble to lilkey still have a problem.

No, it not that simple.

Much easier to rebuild the frontmount. Probably just needs bushings.

any differences, a couple of major issues to consider are moving generator to other side and no bosses on block to mount it and need for different cam shaft.
I won't list all the others at this point.
