Difference between 9n and Ferguson t30

newhaven.........uh, the 9N will have a 4-cyl FLATHEAD engine and 3-speed tranny. The Ferguson will have a 4-cyl OHV engine (over head valve) engine from Standard Motors and 4-speed tranny. ........HTH, the amazed Dell

Thank YOU

The TO-30 Ferguson used the Continental Z129 (129 cu in displacement and Delco electrics) OHV engine. The TEA-20 used the Standard engine and Lucas electrics.

I went to buy a TO30 a few months back , I got there and it had wheels and Brake drum/hubs from a '39 Ford on it !! The ones that look like the old VW wide pattern wheels . Even had one hubcap! That , along with mismatched rear wheels and no tires killed that deal ....

You can always tell them apart from a
distance.
The Ns have an exposed radiator cap. The
Fergies had the tip up hood so no exposed
radiator cap.

fergy has a rear hub with a nut, like an 8n/naa. 9n/2n have those 'remove the axle' style hubs.. smooth or rivited.

Ferguson has a 4-speed overhead valve engine, Ford 9N has a 3 speed flathead 4 -cylinder -first thing I'd look at but then I could tell you from distance which was the Ford and which was the Ferguson.

Actually, none of the Ferguson's I've seen used the 8N/Jubilee style hub/axle with the exposed nut. Not even the TE-20.

Another quick ID is that the TO-30 has the air cleaner inlet on the face of the dash on the upper right side. Kind of a half circle with a screen in the lower part of it. The earlier TE-20 and TO-20 did not have the inlet on the dash, an easy way to tell a 20 from a 30.

Both have the same style hyd pump in the belly running off the pto shaft - ie push in the clutch and you can't lift anything.

Oh yeah, the TO30 has 4 pedals, 3 for the brakes and one for the clutch.

The starter safety cutout uses the shift lever for starting, I'd bump the durned thing switching out of reverse and the starter would accidentally engage.
