8n in a fire

I am looking for a 8n to put a flathead v8 in.
I found one that was in a fire. The tractor did not catch fire but it got hot enough to melt the

back tires. My question is do you think the hydraulics will be ok? Any other advise would be good. I know this is hard but what is it worth?
Thanks Al

scrap price ---- neighbors 4020 was in a fire he decided to fix it. found out he could buy a whole tractor for what pasts were going to cost to fix his.

Paint burned off the castings or just scorched from nearby fire? A set of rear tires can run you almost as much as a beat up working n can be found for if your patient.

If it got hot enough to toast the tires I would past on it. I paid 200 for this 41 that was in a fire. The only reason I bought it was because the guy won't sell the plow separate. Too many other non runner out there for a cheap price.

Funny thing is I took that bumper off and took it up to a local auction a couple of years ago. I got a big 5 bucks for it. Fast forward to last week, I when up to that same auction and seen one of the guy who helps out on his tractor with my old bumper on it. He drill out the front so he could add wheel weights to it. At least somebody got some use out of it.

As said, depends on what got hot and how hot.
"Melt the back tires" - as in burnt them off or bubble them?

Here's my "fire child". It had a bubbled rear as you can see.
One rear tire was salvageable to use and one front as a spare.

"Crispy" is a Jubilee, not an 8N, that's a big difference.
I gave $500 for this as seen in the before pictures but only
because it belonged to a friend that I had helped with it so
I knew the history of the repairs/maintenance, it still had
antifreeze in the engine and non-burnt oil all sumps.

It was a lot of stinky, nasty work.
Metal has to be spotless for new paint to adhere correctly.
Almost all of the gaskets were burnt out and had to be replaced.

I've been offered a thousand more than I have in it and kept it.
I will likely pass on future burnt tractors because of the amount
of extra work but they can be fixed if not burnt too bad.

It's amazing all the things I have seen attached to the front of tractors over the years for weight, but that's a very nice and neatly done one.

I've never heard of a tire melting. They burn, they will char and dry out but melt?
So that doesn't tell us much.
I think any N that's been in a fire is worth about scrap price. If the paint didn't burn off then it's probably worth saving.
