What caused this? and mission creep

I split a 1952 8n to fix a loose oil pickup tube and found this Any ideas what caused this foamy white residue on the pan.

I had done a compression check, wet and dry and all was good (100,100,90,100 dry and 115.115.110.115 wet) I have also put some ATF in #3 and let it soak for a day or so and have been running some ATF in the gas.
I took the pan off after about ½ hour of running while checking the carb adjustments. It is only below the gasket on the left side of the pan. Would the ATF cause the foaming??

Mission creep has also got me replacing the front axle bushing and pin, dust covers on tie rods, both ends, wiring harnness, crankshaft seal retainer, repair battery tray, adjust steering play, and who knows what else. Gotta love mission creep
But I really like working on these old 8n's

To me it looks like water in the oil, I get the same thing if I pull the oil fill cap. Condensation, have to run it long enough to evaporate it out.

This is from condensation forming inside but probably resulting more from actual water getting into the oil from the outside. When we drained our oil shortly after getting our 9N and 8N, both came out like a runny vanilla milkshake.

From what we have read, water often gets into the transmission and rear end through the shifter since it only has a rubber cover that only semi-protects it to keep water out.

We ended up removing the transmission cover where the shifter is located on top as well as the round inspection covers located on each side of the tractor that has 6 bolts in them...this gives access to see down into these areas and clean out any sludge that has built up over the years. It also provides a better way of pouring kerosene into them and slushing it around to help clean out the contaminated oil.

We use Napa's mineral gear oil GL-1 SAE-90 part # NHF 65205 over what tractor supply sells

GL-1 doesn't contain any phosphates which can break down any components that have brass parts in them.

I have two 8n's and both of them will get the water in the trans and I believe it is all from condensation. I NEVER work them in the rain and they are ALWAYS parked under cover.

Thanks guys, the tractor does sit outside covered with a tarp. I have not ran it much since I found the pickup tube loose so it probably is condensation. Also found
more mission creep, leaking around #4 at exhaust, might as well fix it to, easier to do since engine is off and on stand.

Another place water can and will get into your tranny/rearend is around the draft control plunger rod.
When I store mine outdoors I make sure the tarp covers the back of the tractor.
By also covering that area the last 2 years I had to store outside I didn't have to change fluid in the spring from water contamination. The 1st year I had it I didn't cover that area and had to change the fluid come spring.
