LOL and I thought prices were bad here! But then there are always 2 prices, asking and selling!

Rick has a good point... there is the asking price and then the selling price. The seller in this case also has the option to make them an offer and so might be following the golden rule of knowing buyers will often try to get the price lowered even when the tractor is selling for a reasonable price and so the seller maybe starting the asking price a bit high so that when a potential buyer offers them a lower price but is still in the ball park of what they wanted out of the tractor, both the buyer and seller are happy.

Then again, I'm sure we have all seen where the asking price was a bit high and the seller had the option to make an offer but yet wasn't going to make it worth your while because they would only come down on the price by 50.00-100.00.

Me and my husband come across this quite a bit on ebay where something sells for an average of 20.00 and the seller has the option for make an offer but then won't even accept an offer of 18.50

Actually...
That's right in the zone for what you see them advertised here. I think they are worth that - for all the work they'll do - but any more than that you're better off looking for a Jube or 600, etc.
I think for that price I'd want good lift links though. No one told him 3 points are for pulling a back blade, NOT pushing. Note the leveling box rod is all bent to he77.
I wonder what those rear tires are off of. Semi truck?
If you want insane though, I posted this one before.
Insane pricing

ya, that talk of the bottom falling out on antique tractors hasn't made it to ny yet.
I went to an auction a few weeks back and the tractors for sale were bid up to a respectable, fair, amount for each.
not many actually sold, owners had about [i:810476ee4d]double[/i:810476ee4d] reserves on em.
crazy.

keep looking....took a few years but I finally found a fairly cheap N.
a late 52, under $1k.
Didn't take much to get it running, lift works, decent tires, good oil pressure. smokes some, but doesn't concern me. If it don't clear up with use, I'll fix it.
(pics of it in my tracks thread)

that is totally crazy. I acquired 2 last week 1 with new rear tires, sticker is still on them. I have to remove the barn that fell on them sometime in the past 2 years. barn is over the hill from the house widow didn't even know it fell down. $100.00 each -- will probable drive on the trailer.
Will take the tires off if they are any good and haul the rest to the scrapper.

$2400 for that 2n is about what a good running one would bring in Nebraska. If it had rear tractor tires it would hit 2400 with no problem. It is not uncommon to see a good running 8n to hit $3200 on auctions here.

You will get more for them than you will for an 6 AC's made out of pot metal.

How about this one,No 3ph but comes with the 3ph parts.Who knows if it even works with it apart? It even comes with a crappy paint job.
8N

I sold one that needed a new clutch, brakes, engine rebuild, and trans work for $1200. I really thought that was too high but the guy really seamed excited that I would
sell it to him for $1200. Most of the guys i talk to that buy N's pay in the $2000-$3500 for good condition, $1500-$2000 for workers. I"m right in mid MI.

Some tractors are holding their value while others are not. I can get 1500 or more here for a running N with OK tires. A Farmall M is about a 2K tractor with a full restoration, new paint and tires. OK tires and faded paint there are worth about 1K running. One can be used and implements can be had both new and used. The other really isn't usable to most people so really only has a market in the collectors.

My M gets used about 10 hours a year. Only pulls a poo spreader and a towed brush cutter. My N's get used at least 10 hours a week from thaw to freeze up each and often more.

i assume you're talking about the M here, not the Ns. i'm curious about why it isn't usable to most people.

The average buyer in my area owns 5 maybe 10 acres. Now they can buy an N and many used and new implements. Or they can buy an M, a used live hydraulic setup for about 750 and aftermarket 3 point for 1K. Then they can buy new and used implements. Other than that, with just the original drawbar and PTO they can buy a poo spreader, rough mower and wagon.

Local prices support that too. An N in decent condition can bring 1700 or more for just the tractor. A fantastic M with a loader can bring 1800 to 2K. I know of one last year, great sheet tin, near new rubber, PTO driven hydraulic pump for the very nice all hydraulic loader that got 1200 at auction.

Like I say what are you going to do with it on 5 or 10 acres? Then add in for a lot of people looking for a tractor to restore and take to shows it's too big.
