8N Sherman Step-Down Cable Location

Been trying for quite some time to find any info the Sherman Step-Down transmission but can't find any manuals or much of any other information.

Have tried contacting John Smith at oldfordtractors.com and searching his website as well as past articles on it but still not able to find out where to drill the hole into the tractor for where the shift cable goes down through to the Sherman transmission and so not needing to know where to drill the hole in the dash as I have already found enough pictures that gives me a good idea of where to do this hole.

I have found a couple pics of tractors with a shift cable but they didn't really show it from a better angle or the picture wasn't good quality for me to know where to drill the hole.

Does any have a good picture of this or a link to one? It can be a step-up or a step-down as long as it has the shifter cable.

(quoted from post at 13:23:15 04/14/16) mine is a step up......

WEW thank you SO MUCH Chad!

You probably won't realize how much I appreciate you taking you time to take the pictures and upload them.

Definitely gives me quite a bit of relief now knowing that I will get it drilled within a 1/4" of where it is supposed to be.

Just one question though... what is the 'clamp' that is around the cable right before the cable enters the tractor?

(quoted from post at 17:03:14 04/14/16) She's been out anyway, mowing 6' tall weeds took some doing, but got it done.

6 feet tall

thought that I had it bad today having to mow places in our yard that the grass has gotten 6 inches tall

(quoted from post at 17:13:29 04/14/16) Yup, lots of rain here in CA. All of a sudden the grass and weeds took off.

Good to hear especially since we had been seeing on the news how bad it was in California concerning not enough rain.

Here in eastern Ohio, we got snow and rain on n off for the last couple weeks and so gonna be nice if we keep getting days like today. It was 65 degrees and sunny! Forecast said getting warmer and warmer here over the next 5 days and so can't wait to get this Sherman installed and try it out!

I'm in central coast CA so fog and rain are good. Southern CA is still a crispy wasteland. I lived in San Diego for 7 years and had to move vie for my wife's medical treatments. Moved to a place and could finally get my tractor after years of wanting one. Warmer days are coming!

Well me and my wife wish you both the best!

It's going on 9:00pm here and so we're going to hit the sack pretty soon... will be getting up around 5:00am to get an early start on the tractor.

and hey thanks again for the help... that was really nice coming inside to check messages and seeing that someone had uploaded some pics :)
