John Smith, Sherman combo shims

John,
I have removed the thicker shims one at a time
having one paper gasket and one thin shim
included.
I have eliminated the shaft end play by removing a
thicker shim.
Now when I remove one thin shim, the shaft seems
to be harder to turn.
Should I leave the thin shim in as long as no end
play exists?
Thank you,
Greg

Thanks John,

BTW, I was able to replace the cone bearing at the
tranny input anyway.
Thanks for the terrific rebuild of the combo.
It sure is a massive honkin thing compared to the
step-up.
I will feel better running my PHD at the lower PTO
speed!
Regards,
Greg
