Yesterday you helped me get my 49 8N started by drying the ditributor out. When I parked her last night I noticed the lights were very dim. Altho the gauge showed it was charging I put a charger on the battery. Today it would not start so again I pulled the the distributor and yes there was moisture in it so took it off and inside to dry it out. Put it all back together and still no go. Also no lights. Jumped the ignition switch, no change. Everything is new, this tractor was completely rewired in the summer of 2014. Need some hints on where to look next.
Thanks, Job

n an attempt to find where voltage stops along its path, use a test lamp or voltmeter with one lead to grounded side of battery U "walk" the path as shown in drawing. Your tractor is early 8N, so won't be exactly as shown, but will be very similar (resistor in coil wire), etc. Start with #8 and then #7, etc. moving away from battery toward coil. If starter does nothing, first, verify both ends of battery cables (at battery & at solenoid & at chassis ground).

Thanks, I should have said that starter turns over. Motor cranks just fine but no spark at plugs and no other power.

"this tractor was completely rewired in the summer of 2014"

Is it "stock" wiring or does it have a key start type of wiring setup?
No headlights? Where does the power lead to them hook to power?

Hi JMOR,
Found it!! Bad Ammeter, put both wires under one terminal and off she went, ready to finish plowing snow. I love this tractor. Anyone
making the ammeter in the US or are they all imports?
I'd been looking for your wiring diagram online (unsuccessfully). I thought I'd seen one in the past but was beginning to think I'd
dreamed it.
Thanks again,
