throttle position

this is the lowest my throttle lever can go before the tractor dies......is this about right or should I be able to knock it all the way down and the tractor keep running?

There's an adjustment screw on the throttle lever on the carburetor to adjust idle speed.

Once that is set, you should NIT be able to "kill" the engine no matter how "low" you set the hand throttle.

I agree with Bob, it should not die when you idle it down.
It should idle at ~400 RPM on its own.
If it won't idle that low that is a different issue.

Adjusting the idle screw may fix the stalling but I doubt it will
change the range of operation for your throttle lever. Once the
carb hits the stop the rest of the movement will simply do nothing.

The long rod that runs from the bottom of the throttle lever to
the governor is adjustable if you want to change that.
The governor is also adjustable if the need arises.

BTW, in on the screw to increase idle RPM.
Pretty tractor. Looks like someone's done a lot of work.

alright set up so that with throttle all the way down it just barely runs.....gonna need to hook up a tach to see where my RPM's are....

I have been working hard on it...kind of....took about three months off.....Just now jumping back into this project....taking the actual gas tank in later this week to have it lined and the sheet metal to have it all powder coated....lol by the time I finish I will have spent way too much money on it.
