Welding aluminum Dash

I have an aluminum dash on my 9N and it has some cracks in the dash. It has been repaired prior to my owning it. Can this cast aluminum be welded to keep it together. If not what do I need to do to replace the dash? Where to go? Parts available?

Best I can tell is that my tractor is a N9 circa 1941. It currently houses a 8N 1949 motor.

Most cast aluminum can be welded, some can't.It depends what it is alloyed with it or how many impurities are in it. I weld some sort of aluminum about every week. There is really no way of knowing if it will weld until you try. Welding Aluminum is also relatively expensive. It all depends if you want to keep the tractor original. If you don't it might be less costly to replace it.

If I wanted to replaced the dash.... can I find something that would fit within the current steering column? What would that be a steel dash? And can you recommend what year I might be seeking. I have a Master Parts catalog but I can see where they showed the steel dash in the same format at the aluminum dash. Thanks,,,,,
