What kind of oil?

(quoted from post at 16:00:57 01/24/16) What kind of hydraulic oil do I need for my 9N? Car Quest has 4 different kinds. Mark

Original specification was mild EP SAE 90. The last Ford recommendation was M2C-134D which is a UTF. A modern SAE 80W90 is also a reasonable choice.

That was for the internal pump which shares oil with the gear box and rear axle. If you are buying oil for your external pump get a true hydraulic oil ISO/AW 32 or 46.

Yes I'm talking about the pump mounted on the front. Where is the reservoir for that one? I thought all the pumps used the
same sump. Mark

I looked at the routing for the lines for the front pump, and it appears that the round tubing structure for the front
bucket, is the oil reservoir. There is also a small pipe with a pipe cap on it, about 3/4 way up on the right frame tubing.
Would this be the oil fill location? And would this also be where the oil level should be? Mark

You have an aftermarket loader which was an accessory add-on to the tractor. There were several different manufacturers other than Ford and dozens of different models. Find the model nameplate on the loader and I can probably point you to an online copy of the loader manual. Or if you post a couple pictures of it I or someone else may be able to identify it for you. Otherwise we are just guessing.

I will see if I can figure out how to send pictures on this site. I know how to send to an e-mail address if you care to
share that. Mark
