bleed or not?

I have taken the hydraulic lines off the front pump on a 9N I'm working on, to replace the drive shaft etc. Will I have to
bleed the pump of air when I restart it? If so, how do I do that? Also are new pumps available? The shaft on this one is
pretty chewed up. Thanks, Mark

" Will I have to bleed the pump of air when I restart it? "

No.

Just be patient for it to get pressure up.

" Also are new pumps available?"

I'd buy a rebuilt one from a reputable source:

The front pump is a generic application and any industry standard pump can be mounted in place of the original. You may need to do a little modification to the OEM mount to get an SAE standard pump to fit but it's not usually difficult. The pump must operate with counter-clockwise rotation and should have a flow rate that is reasonably close to the original.

I have had good luck with the Dynamic Fluid Components pumps from Surplus Center. They are inexpensive but have an SAE-A standard 5/8" shaft. The OEM pumps had 3/4" shafts so figure another $40 for a replacement 5/8" flange for the flexible coupler.

Surplus Center also sells a nice cast aluminum SAE-A mounting foot for $35 if you don't want to roll your own.

Thank you for the help. One more dumb question. Car Quest sells 4 different weight of hydraulic oil. Which is right for this unit? Mark
