Rear axle hub replacment

Come spring, I am going to have to replace the rear-right hub. When I do that, should I replace any other related parts as a matter of routine, or should I take the, "if it ain't broke-don't fix it.", approach? If I should just routinely swap-out other parts, which parts (name and part number), should I order?

I know it's nice to have all the parts on hand when you start the job, but I've lost the bet almost every time I've tried that. Best to pull it down first then order parts.

Not much else in there to replace other than brakes.

Just check the axle & backing plate carefully for wear. If the hub is really worn, both the axle & backing plate may need replacing. BTDT. As was the case w/ the tractor in the pic. The axle extended nearly 1/4" past the hub.

Thanks for the response...I was thinking maybe it would be prudent to replace the bearings and seals was long as I had the axle apart...but no indication they are bad.

Also, What is, "BTDT"?

BTDT = Been There Done That

Once you get the drum off you will be able to easily inspect the
brake shoes and springs. If they are greasy/oily then you are
on the right track with changing the seals while in there.
