8N Ford Story

" 8N Ford Goes 96.3 MPH"

Not w/ me on it!

My rebuilt 8N w/ a Sherman in hi & 4th gear goes about 25 mph. W/ no suspension at all, that scared the crap out of me on a paved driveway!

Looks like some one who has to much $$ and not enough between there ears to not know a tractor should not go that fast

I used to drive my stock 2N in 3rd OD fairly often. Thursday night at the Legion Club for cheap tacos and beers.
If you reach up with your toe and bump the throttle butterfly you can get another 4-5 mph out of one.
I didn't spend an extra $50 grand to go another 65 mph with one though.
Nor would I.

We lived on a gravel road then and I do now. They were never/are very smooth. Do that with a one row Wood Bros. corn picker and two grain wagons or with just two grain wagons with about 3 tons of grain (mid-late 1950s). Been there, done that.

I live on a gravel road here in Michigan, same as John.
I'm not sure the one he lives on (or the connecting road)
should even qualify as gravel. Definitely not a road!
If it hadn't been for the VW Bugs parked in the potholes
I would have had to lock the truck in four wheel drive! LOL

Just ribbing ya John. Merry Christmas and happy new year!

no traffic and no deer.......piece a cake.
probably about the same as a 60's small uni-body muscle car with a big block, 4-speed, and manual drum brakes.(no idea which way it will dart on a shift, and praying trying to slow it at the strip turn-off...lol)

The need for speed.....can't explain it if you don't have it.
Tires growing at speed on a bike, til your contact patch is about as wide as your finger......ahhh...heaven :D

I thought the explanation was pretty obvious and it always made my contact patch get larger ;-)
