Front tires

Hello, I'm new to the site and have a question, I'm sure its been discussed before so sorry for beating a dead horse ..
I have 16 " front tires the ribbed kind and was wondering if I could put 16" car trailer tires on? I used to haul antique equipment and have a ton of them laying around as spares, second question is the rims look new on my tractor so could I go tubeless or would I still need a tube? Thanks in advance

AWD, welcome to the forum!
Yes you can use car/truck/trailer tires. They help with flotation.
Tubeless has been done with success. Really depends on your rims.

You didn't say what tractor you have, but on an 8N/NAA some
car/truck rims will match up to the bolt pattern. Original 9N/2N
hubs will not be as easy to find rims for. Especially not tubeless ones.

Mine on my Jubilee here are too wide so I had to dish the rims
out. That adds some extra stress to the axle and spindles.

Thanks for the welcome!, not sure what tractor it is yet I have yet to figure it out, I did buy points condenser and cap from Tractor supply for a 8n and they fit perfect , same with the fuel bowl strainer , I think its a 134 cu engine , I will take pictures and post them tomorrow.

Glad to help!

If it is a 134 engine it would be a NAA/Jubilee or newer.
Since you said the sediment bowl fit, if its a 134 I would guess
its a NAA/Jubilee. Check out John Smith's website [b:4d98ef040c]here[/b:4d98ef040c] for a great
model ID section.
John is also a great source of used parts and knowledge.

TSC is not a good place to buy parts unless its an emergency.
They may fit and work, but don't last very long.

My loader's not homemade, as best I can tell it is a Kelly brand.
They are now out of business, so many things have been home
brewed to replace things that were worn out.
It also has home built/custom fit power steering.

Here's a picture of my other Jubilee and one of my 8Ns.
Notice the big difference in the hoods and grills. The 9N/2N/8N
all had flat head engines too, not the valve in head 134 "red tiger".

If you can post some pictures of it we can ID it for you.

You can use old car tires. You will have to put the rims
on backwards to have clearance.

I have made several wheels on my old implements tubeless.
You just need a valve stem that fits tight in the hole and
some tire bead sealer.

I just picked up this '41 has a big set of car tires on the front. I'm planning on putting a set of turf tires on
the back and using it to pull a 6' finish mower around. Never tried to go tubeless.

Not front tires but your heat houser . Have a 8n with
walk through wagnor loader . I want too still use driver side
for acsess . Were and how does yours work ?

My heat houser frame mounts to the loader frame with the
exception of one bolt in the right rear corner through the fender.
The left/driver's side has a swinging door.
I haven't put the heat houser on yet this winter or I would go
take pictures of it for you.
I take it off and hang it up every year because it is too hot for
me to be comfortable in there in the summer and it hinders
access when getting on and off.

Many tractor rims will not work well tubeless. If you took a truck or car rim that is tubeless and compared it to a tractor rim you can see a few things that are different. Many tractor rims have rivets that will leak and also where the bead sits on the tractor rim if different

Royse what a beautiful tractor, here is a few pictures of my 600 dollar wreck
 Do you or anybody know what model it is and what does the oil filter on the right side go to? looks like to the rad back to the tranny Thanks guys

Thank you! It was a lot of work. See my posts on "crispy".

Hard to tell for sure with the loader on, but it looks like maybe
a '63-64 2000 which would have a 134 engine in it. The later 2000's
had a three cylinder engine.

Could also be a 4000 from the same years, but that would have a
172 engine. Very similar engine, just bigger displacement.

Not sure on the filter, but it looks like it could be a spin on hydraulic
filter since the original pump isn't where I'm used to seeing them.
Are you sure about where the lines go?
Others will chime in and help you out too.

By the way, if you want your $600 back let me know!
That was a steal!

Long story on how I got the tractor lol, but yes I'm sure where the lines go I doubled checked to:) , The tractor will just roll no matter if in gear or not its like always in neutral unless running? wet clutch? if so what kind of fluid would it take?

Back to tires the rims are only 4.5 wide 16" seems kinda narrow to put a truck/trailer tire on soooo I guess I will be buying some tires..

Implement rims or truck rims will bolt right on if you want.
Might have to dish them out as said.

To the transmission/clutch, which one do you have?
Can you post a picture of the shift lever?

My 52 8N came with car tires, used them for years. Then used 19" wheels and tires and 16" tractor tires, all ran good. Now with the rocky ranch ground we have are now using old aircraft tires and wheels from the Houston area. They have been on for about five years and have not put any air in them They work great for our rocky soil.

I have ford truck rim I will try:)
I will get a picture today of tranny lever, but its a single stick 4spd with reverse being left top .. Thanks for the input so far everyone I really appreciate it.

Well I had to try putting my 245-75-16 E rated truck tires on my 4.5 tractor rims, so I cleaned them up really good rims and tires went to Napa and bought .625 1/14 length tire valves part no# 90-416 and fought a little but got it all together and they hold air with no leaks (see picture) first I put 30lbs of air in tires and turning was harder so I upped them to 65lbs and it now turns like it did with little tractor tires :D
so success !

Here is a picture of tranny hope it can be identified, its a H pattern with 1st being top right, 4th being top left , 2nd being left bottom and 3rd being right bottom Thanks

I bought a pair of implement rims and stopped by a local tire place and got a pair of used radial tires to fit. They put the tires on and I put them on the 8N and they are so much better than the 3 rib tires for what most of us do with the N's. Don't dig in on turning when pulling the 5' finishing mower around cutting grass.
