Ford 8N 4 Speed Transmission

Does anyone know if the gears on the main shaft are "timed"? (I believe 2nd and 4th) I need to swap the main shaft due to damage and wanted to make sure prior to assembling. Thank you

No, they are not "timed".

Do you have any tips about removing the race from the housing for the main drive / shaft?

If you have access to an arc or mig welder, weld a bead around the inside of the "cup" and allow it to cool to ambient.

The cup will shrink and all but fall out on it's own.

Most of the time you can walk them out they are not that tight of a fit... Strike it from the bottom at a angle with a chisel are screwdriver... Once you get get a pry bar under them they walk out...
