front snow plow 3 pt lift

I have a front snow plow that I bought many years ago and that I am trying to hook up now on my 8N. It has a full frame underneath and a cable system to the 3 point in the back. The entire outfit looks like a commercially built and sold plow out of the late 40s. The 3 point hookup bracket is a jury rigged, amateurish, bird sh*t, welded up bracket with strange curves. I cannot figure out how it was hooked to the 3 point lift? I suspect I may be better off coming up with something new for this purpose. I really don't want to reinvent anything, so any ideas, pictures, whatever would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

Does it look like this - original Dearborn snow plow lift frame?

Bill, I have a full frame front mount snow plow under my 2N.
I would be happy to take any pictures you need if they'd help.

your plow on the earlier N appears to be exactly the same as mine based on your picture. I would greatly appreciate a picture of how it is hooked to the 3 point. Thanks Bill T in SW MI

I'll get you a picture Bill.
Your description of the hacked up bracket is about what I
remember mine looks like though. It's certainly not pretty.

Royse, I was hoping for a picture or description of your 3 pt hookup. mine has a 16" long curvy undulating piece of steel about 2 1/2" to 3" wide with the cable hooked to one end and a U shaped piece welded on the other end. It does have a hole, possibly a bolt hole in the middle. I have seen the Dearborn hookup, but it has a cable on both sides, so that does not look like it would work as well. I am curious if this was hooked to the 3 point side arm or to the crossbar? Thanks Bill T

I'm sorry Bill, I got busy going to auctions this weekend and
totally forgot to get that picture for you!

Thank you for reminding me, here's how it's hooked up.

Clamped to the 3pt lift arm fore, with a hole attached to the
pin/bolt that connects the lifting rod going to the lower lift arm.
Your "U shaped piece" may do just as well as my clamp and
be easier to remove if needed.

Mine appears to be home brewed, but it works well.
It could use a cable protector on the cable and the length
probably needs to be fairly close to get the lift correct.
