Is there any tricks to getting the gasket unstuck? I have all of the bolts and the pin out and I'm afraid to pry to hard on it and crack it so is there any tricks thanks?

If you don't want to do the big heinous pry bar thing yet, get one of those narrow glazier's knives that have a metal handle end, and use a hammer to tap it into the seam all the way around.

That is way more likely to crack the flange on a casting than the pry bar - it puts a point load on a thin section....

They're ground to a knife edge. If you do it right (just tap it into the gap, don't whale away at it with a five-pound sledge) it either separates the gasket from the casting or splits the gasket.

I didn't have a "big heinous pry bar", so I used a length of 2-inch pipe. This was after several other attempts with other methods had failed. Boy are those covers stuck down!

a floor jack and a 2x4 cut to length -
1.put the jack below the lift arm (on the ground) cut the 2x4 to go from the jack lift pad up to the lift arm at the cover/pivot.

2. carefully jack it up until the wheel starts to lift (less than 1" off the ground). Let it stay like this overnight - it'll likely be free in the morning.
