Screw holding straps on points

Hi Again,

I've added a letter to the picture indicating the nylon screw that melted along with several things in my distributor: D indicates this screw.

Does this one have to be nylon? or can I put in a metal screw (if I'm lucky enough to find one that fits in well), these screws don't come with a set of new points.

Again, thanks in advance for your welcomed advice

Gord

Here is the new photo

The hold down screws were not nylon Gord, they were metal.
Just make sure it is not too long or it may interfere with the
advance weights under the point plate.
There are insulators at A and B and those need to be there.

Thanks Royse,

I see the confusion with the location of the letter D I added to the photo. It happened to be on the hold down screw word in the photo.

follow the little red arrow from the letter D to a screw on the straps (not the hold down screws). Thanks, I'll fix that and repost the picture

Sorry Gord, I looked at your picture wrong.
You are not pointing at the hold down screw.
That screw does not have to be nylon either,
but the insulators still need to be there.

Thanks Royse,

My fault, I put the letter in a dumb spot.

Trouble is trying to either make or find an insulator at C and finding a proper screw for D (although that will be easier now that it doesn't have to be nylon).

Thanks again for your help

I sure hope I'm following correctly here.
For "A" try Hillman part number 881189
Like the one linked [b:4b2a03a8ea]here.[/b:4b2a03a8ea]

This is a bit different part, but fixed the same way.

Thanks Royse,

Looks darned close, I'll pick one up tomorrow and see how it goes. Even if I have to drill a small hole down the centre, it may just work.

Great, I have a mission :) thanks again for your help.
