Okay. I feel like a real dummy that I cant figure this one out. Maybe you guys have an idea.

I am rebuilding the carb on my 8N. Took it all apart and got it cleaned up and ready to reassemble.

I took out the idle jet and now cant get it back in. It came out very easy and I didn't damage the jet at all.

The new one that came in the kit wouldn't thread in so I went back to try to reinstall the old one. The threads are fine and both jets thread into a 10-32 nut easily. I can also run a 10-32 bolt into the jet hole. Its a hair loose, but threads in fine.

I just cant get the threads on either of the jets to catch so I can thread it back in. I know I have the right jet and I am putting it in the right hole. Really don't see how I could have damaged the threads. It came out fine, just cant get it back in.

Kinda regretting taking that sucker out now, and glad I didn't take out the main or econ jets.

What the heck am I missing?

Check the hole and the threads carefully.
If the old one came out it should go back in unless someone
had previously "glued" it in and you cleaned the glue out.

I use my hollow ground screwdrivers (gunsmith screwdrivers), they seem to hold the jets straighter and make it easier to get the start thread lined up. If you have a set, you may try that.

Also once you have the jet in the hole, turn it backwards until you feel the start thread line up. It is subtle, but you can feel it "fall" into place. Then start to tighten.

Stony.......ever hear of "super-glue"? (crinol-acitate?) ........boy, I kent spill this morning. Just glue yer brass idlemix screw to yer typical "V" screwdriver and screw away. Super-glue is NOT STRONG and you kenn bust it off once you've gotter started into yer carbie base. Remember; the idlemix screw is BASSACKWARDS; out fer lean, IN fer ENRICH. Usually ends up about 1/8-1/4 turn. ...........HTH, the screwed-up Dell

I sometimes stick a round toothpick into the jet to help hold it straight to get it started. Be sure to check the toothpick afterwards to make sure there is not any wood left in the jet.

Thanks folks. I'll give these ideas a try. Had to make a run out of town, so it will be a few days before I get back to it. Really appreciate the help.
