right rear brake problem

this is my first exploration inside the brake drum on my 8n, the right side actuating cam shaft is loose moving freely inside the brake assembly, how does the brake end of the actuating cam shaft secure it self to the brake assembly?

i could take the other side apart to see it working properly but would just a soon not at this time, thanks dave

The brake shoes and their springs hold it in place once assembled.
It doesn't attach to the shoes.

The brake shoes are held against the actuator with springs i believe, and the brake drums keep it all centered.
