hydraulic gaskets for hydraulic pump

getting ready to put pump back together, i understand not to put gasket sealer on the gaskets, what about gasket sealer on the actual pump gaskets?

No gasket sealer anywhere there is pressure. The hydraulic pressure will blow past the sealer. Just use paper gaskets.

got it, i just spent an hour removing gasket sealer from the pump, and also the other gaskets, what a pain!!!

I doubt it was a sealer on the gaskets.. Original gaskets tend to marry themselves to the parts...

IIRC, the original gaskets has some asbestos fibers in them.

Very FUNCTIONAL, but no longer "PC".
