The governor housing on my 8N was leaking like crazy. Pulled it off and found it was severely warped and the gasket had been made up with about 1/4" silicon to try to make it work. I ordered the new housing below.
The race went into the new housing fine, just a little tight and a couple of taps to seat it home. When I went to install it on the tractor, looks like the bolt holes in the new housing are made for 3/8" bolt. Mine has a 7/16" bolt. And yep, I'm using the short bolt that came out.
Is it OK to just drill the housing out a little? Want to make sure I have the right part.
Thanks folks.
Governor Housing - Governor Housing includes needle bearing, Lip-type seal, bushing, and proofmeter drive cap with seal and nut. For 8N, 9N, 2N tractors built 1939 thru 1952. (Part No: 8N18085)
