My poor neglected 8N

So I have this old 8N that has been parked for at least 2 years with out being touched. This summer we had the floods so it was in water but I was not sure how deep. Started messing with it today and found water in the oil pan and in the hyds etc. Carb even had water in it. Drained the engine and the hyds etc. Checked to make sure the engine is not locked up. Good it was not. Guess I need to give it a bunch of TLC before winter and maybe move it and park it on higher ground. Have not needed the back hoe so have not done anything to it in to long a time.

o.......... what is this ? Some sort of confession of your negligence? Weird!

No one of those thing where if one does not keep up on thing things can come up and cause problems. Been a long hard summer this year and not needing the machine got it neglected and forgotten about

I bought a little Toyota truck once that the timing chain had been allowed to get loose and worn a hole in the water jacket housing,
this action allow water to flow into the crankcase and filled it with water.

as long as the water was above the bearing surfaces it did not let air get to the metal so no rust.

I fixed the truck, filled it with cheap oil ran it for a short time then changed the oil again.
I drove it for 5000 miles before I traded it off.

so you might be good to go if you get the water out and new oil in, but I advise changing the oil again after a short drive to insure you get all the water out.

the transmission oil must also be changed.

some of them like to swim.

my 541 had evidence of swimming as i found silt and other 'high water' issues in here when i cleaned out her crankcase and rear sumps.
