My 1949 8n just started smoking out of the clear blue. Never had any smoke until I filled the steering box with gear oil, is there any way that the smoke out the exhaust can be related to me filling the steering box. I actually have oil dripping out of the exhaust. I have not done a compression test. Was planning to do that today but now the clutch appears to be frozen to the flywheel, went from no clutch issues to now will not shift in or out of any gear. Could all these be related?

Thanks

Blue, white or black smoke??? If black a carb problem. If blue oil. If white coolant in the engine

Sorry I haven't back to the forum, just too darn busy. As to where I added the oil, I removed the plug that has a square head located behind the
oil bath air filter just above the right side steering arm. As for the smoke its white and smells oily.

I should have said the smoke is more gray than white since white smoke is usually associated with water/coolant
