3point implements

I've been reviewing all of your inputs regarding implements between a 3 point blade or box blade. The area I'm cleaning is 1/2 acre ground is hard especially since it's so dry. Should I use a breaking plow or cultivator first? I'm not sure what a rake with gage wheels is explain this implement further. Thankyou for all of your help.

Any breaking up of the ground will help, but the box scraper teeth should do good, but I would wait until I got rain before I tried to do much. Too hard and dry and you are probably wasting your time.

Home Machinist,Use a breaking plow to loosen up the dirt first, then a box blade or a regular blade or pond scoop to move it where you want it.

a box blade with the rippers still with it will do it, wait for some rain, but before its completely dry, rip the ground to loosen it, i worked at a rock quarry and got mine, but stop into one near you or a excavating contractor who has some real equipment, and ask for a few old cutting edges off a grader or dozer or big front end loader, they'll probably give these to you, or charge you scrap price, but they weigh anywhere from 100 to 200 lbs depending on what they came off of, strap one or 2 of them on top of the box blade to give it some bite, but you need to have a hand on your position control when you rip, as a soft spot, and it will sink all the way and may stop you and make the tractor rear up, be ready! you can feel th engine start to load or you will see the box start to sink more, lift up on the position control lever and be ready to step on the clutch too , ive got 2 cutting edges off a d-8 cat on my 6 foot howse box blade, i run it behind my jubilee and using only 2 or 3 rippers i can rip thru a packed gravel road with it, it does work the heck out of the jube but it will do the job, hard dirt should be no problem for a good running tractor, after ripping the ground remove the weight and retract or remove the rippers whichever your box blade has, and use it to level the ground the box will allow you to pull loose dirt with you filling in the valleys and knocking the tops off the hills
