TSC RENEW hydraulic fluid

I have seen the articles here on the various choices of hydraulic fluid to use in an 8N, and the GL-1 and "Universal" fluids available at Tractor Supply. They have a new fluid out designed for old tractors using the same fluid for hydraulics, transmission, rear end, etc. called "RENEW". Has anyone tried it? It looks like it might be a good choice. I need to change out my fluid and was thinking about going this route.

It's just another UTF hyped to the older tractor crowd. Jim Allen (no relation ;-)) over at BITOG had a VOA conducted on it and the results were very generic and unimpressive. Unfortunately TSC does no publish ANY technical data sheets for their Traveller house brands so it is a pig ina poke as far as further specifics go. Supposedly it has increased levels of seal conditioners to benefitolder machines. Given the paucity of seals in an N-series that isn't much of a selling point. Much like the High Mileage hype used to sell engine oil to old car owners. IMO you are better off buying a $35 bucket of their Premium UTF than the $50 bucket of RENEW. The Premium UTF actually had better VOA numbers in Jim Allen's testing.

BITOG - Bob Is The Oil Guy website. All you ever wanted to know and then some about various lubricants

VOA - Virgin oil analysis - as opposed to a Used Oil Analysis (UOA)

pau·ci·ty
?pôs?d?/
noun
the presence of something only in small or insufficient quantities or amounts; scarcity.
"a paucity of information"

So today you improved your knowledge of lubricants, acronyms, AND your vocabulary ;-)

(quoted from post at 19:11:42 10/04/15) Certainly no (paucity) = ( smallness of number : fewness) with this post.

Yeah - I was battling website bugs. It kept saying my reply was posted but it wasn't showing up and I'd try again. Then all of a sudden they were all there. Sort of like the old Richard Armour couplet:

None will come, and then a lot'll.[/i:c6afae3d05]

OK. Convinced me. Obviously, I have a paucity of knowledge about this subject. Was going to stick with the Travelers GL-1 sold by TSC but sounds like the Universal product is better? In South Texas so cold weather is really not a factor.

I've had the TSC renew in my 8n for 2 years I think. no complaints with it at all. However I gotta say I really don't see much difference between it and their stardard, cheaper fluid.
