My Pick of the Day

Let me introduce you to #9N4128. Not much to look at. I went for the 32" tires, wheel and centers.
He bought whole tractor as a parts tractor for his 8N. Then found not much would swap out. He says the brakes look good. He tried to use the axle for his 8N. While most parts are gone, does have a complete rear end, Transmission, governor, block w/ pan and good tight steering and all linkage and such. Exhaust looks useable. What was wrong with tractor to start with was a bad crank, which the PO removed.
Tires have only very minor cracking. Less than hafe tread. maybe a third left. Hard to say. No rust at all on the wheel. I feel pretty sure if I was to remove the tires that the wheels will look good inside. I say that because even though he had sold the tin, it was still there. I helped him remove the final fender. Bet it had never been off. Course it had been repainted. But I looked close at the fenders and hood. They looked great. Wish I could had gotten the tin. I looked very close at the hood. Inside and out. No sign of any repair or rust thru. A hood to die for. Looks like the tractor was kelp clean, dry and in a barn most of it's life.
I had just yesterday stated below to Kirk I never meet a tractor I did want to get back running. Guess now I have. This will be a parts tractor for the 9N I already have. The only N I have the I've never had running. I'll be changing that now that I got all the parts.
Wound up agreeing to $275 for tires and all the rest. After loading it in my truck I asked him about the stabilizes brackets which he had thrown in with the pile of tin. He said O, you want them? You can have them. So I rounded up the price to $280.

That picture resembles one of my 8n's when I bought it. All of the sheetmetal and the wheels were off as well. The gentleman I purchased from had several N's for sale. I gave $550.00 for mine then he took me in his shop and said I could have all the extra old parts I wanted and a big box of new parts. I figured I came out pretty well on the deal. It looks like you have some good parts to work with and a good deal. Have fun.

You did good. Can't beat that price for a set of 32's. Later model dash and some hobbled up 8n floorboards but still some good usable parts. Looks about the shape of ones I look at that the ad sez "Ran when parked" need carb cleaned and battery.

nice find
be careful with those 'parts' tractors though.
..........."ya know...I bet I could get this running"....

sometimes....it is the simplest thing that gets ya...
I needed some wheel centers for an off-brand tractor.
at the yard, owner quoted me a price on a pair on a half-stripped
long stuck, in the weeds, pile of junk. said, another hundred you can have the whole hulk (he didn't want to have to take em off)
deal
at home, started to strip what was left....pulled the rusty, bare head and got a bath......antifreeze!
That was it...I can fix/save this...lol months later...one of my best tractors.

Yes, It could be made to run again. Only way I'd try that with this many parts missing would be if it was my Grand Dad's long loss
tractor.
