I have a 51 8n and I can't get the front tires to align with the rear. I can get the left tire in line with the back but the right front is toe out to the right . I measured the drag links and the left ( sitting in the seat ) is 32 3/4" and the right is 34 1/2" . The right side is where I run out of adjustment . FO4 manual calls out p.n. 8n3314D for both sides . I wanna make sure I get the right length when I order but I only see one part number for the drag link . I suspect the difference in length might have to do with gear box changes. A good p.n. For the shorter drag link would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

HiYa Auggy-
The drag link lengths are different but you have it backwards -the RIGHT DRAG LINK is LONGER. Here is a page from the July 1947 MPC on the early steering box drag link lengths. P/N 8N-3304 RH 37.75" assembled length and the LH assembly is p/n 8N-3305 36.30". You don't want to switch them. You could have steering box issues too. The September 1952 MPC just shows the assembly as no longer being serviced but the sleeves are available. I wouldn't think the lengths vary much with the later steering box but will check my MPC's to verify. they no doubt make them both the same length and it's up to you to adjust to correct length.

I haven't done that yet because I read somewhere last nite that the lengths are correct. Early 8n has the short link on one side and the later 8n has them on the opposite side . But the F04 manual shows the same part . I just looked over the steering box and the the right side arm is offset to the rear compared to the left side about 1 1/2" , that explains the difference . I have replaced every part that can be replaced on the front end except the steering box trying to get it to turn easier to the left so I guess that's next. Thanks for your reply , I wouldn't have thought to look at the arms being offset.

The arms are offset by design.

Tightness in turning is likely a adjustment, bearing or bushing issue.
