... Only spent about a year refreshing and updating it, bought new by my grandparents the year dad was born. Used por-15 as a base before paint, have upgraded the 3-point to postion control (courtesy of a '48 8N that is too far gone for anything but parts) has a 180 thermostat, new front axle piviot bushing, rebuilt water pump, new front tires/tubes, new sure seals and brake shoes, new manifold-(from the land of "almost right", had to do a minor modification to make it work) Have litterly waited all summer for the right painting weather. Its ready for the next 69 years!

Very nice, looks really good, that's great it's been in
your family since new. I hope to get mine fixed up
enough to re paint it this spring. Now to enjoy using
that nice machine.

Very nice! Excellent work!!!!

I have the 1945 2N that my grandfather bought new. He never go the hang of adjusting the brakes, so
the combination of hilly ground and no front bumper mean that the grille is gone and the hood is
dented too badly to fix.

It still earns its keep running a 4' brush hog and clearing rocks with a landscape rake. I added a
Zane Thang positon control, which really helps the rake, and your upgrade to the 8N parts is
probably very handy.

Great looking 2n. Glad to see them painted the colors they were suppose to be. Is it a sherman step up or step down?

it is a Sherman step-up, you can tell it spent many hours in 2nd-over, very noticeable gear noise there. theres still some minor stuff to do, like the tool box and chains on the lynch pins. its still a 6V system, generator works just fine. have a few implements for it, 2 bottom plow, 2 row corn cultivator, rear scoop and back blade. the brakes actually aren't bad-now that it has good seals to keep the oil out of the shoes, original shoes had plenty of lining but were oil soaked. came across the pto extention/adaptor when I was cleaning out a corner of the barn a few weeks back, painted it too when I did the tractor.

It was the main tractor on the farm for several years, even after dad got a JD A in 52 it still did a lot of plowing, all of the planting, most of the cultivation, mowing and raking hay. Pulling the corn planter and grain drill was always done in 2 over.

Very nice. I have one ('46 2N) from my Great-grandfather that i would like to look like that again in the near future. But it is currently earning its keep.

Looks real nice. Mine are just done in an Autumn Brown color.

That's the first I've heard that you can use the parts off an 8N to add Position Control.

Beautiful job! Now just paint the starter and Genny the same gray like they were when Grand Dad bought it.

Yes, you need the top plate and the pump, and there is a small piece of casting webbing to remove inside the 2N housing near the ring gear, when you compare a 2N vs 8N you can easily see it, perhaps i'll get a picture of that some day, 8N is still out back, punt the original 2N parts in the barn, made plywood covers for the 8N to keep the elements (and critters) out. Sure, there is a gizmo you can buy and put on for postion control, but i had the parts and all i needed was a couple of gaskets.... And i can flip between postion and draft quickly and easily when needed.

Yes, hadnt got those painted yet, also have the toolbox to do, humidity is way high again.... I'll get to it, wasnt going to wait to assemble, needed to get it out in the daylight and hear the flathead run.....

I don't blame you. I haven't turned my compressor on in about four weeks. I just do other stuff instead.
