what can i do short ofr catdhing a bull snake to live in my quanset hut to keep the mice out. I store a farm tractor that they do not bother and two lawn tractors, the wheel horse mice lovve and get in the motor and build nests, how do i keep them out of the machinery, I tried traps and catch mice but thier seems to be an unlimited number . any ideas.
Oh and i havent seen a bull snake in eons.

set Adirondack traps....they work great and can catch many without needing tending....use them at camp all the time

I buy about $75 worth of mouse poison each year. Put it in all my sheds.

grandpa had bull snakes and still had mice. The snakes would rather eat bird eggs. Birds would make nests above the sliding doors. Open the doors and the snake tails would hang down or the snake would fall to the floor! In the corners where the mice holes were. No snakes? Took years to kill all his snakes. None of them less than 4ft.

good story, i wouldnt like having snake around but here in illinois the local wildlife guy says they are really rare, i saw one in starved rock 15 yrs ago rially big around. sorry to say theyre almost extinct here or so i hear.

Just this year I started using oats/Plaster/sunflower seeds mixed together. Roughly 1 part oats to one part plaster with a bag of sunflower seeds thrown in. $10 will make you a 5 gallon bucket full. You need the quickest setting drywall plaster you can find. I found some 5 minute set time stuff for patching. Plaster of Paris will work also. Theory is it sets up in their stomachs after they drink water. I don't know if it is working yet but much cheaper than mouse poison I was buying. Mice actually carry a disease that can kill you and has no known cure. Kills almost 1/2 of people who catch it, the name escapes me but it is only carried by deer mice. Deer mice have white bellies. Damn things nest all in my cabinets and the stench can get awful. Neighbor has 40 cats and no mice....but that is too extreme for me.

Mint is a natures deterrent for rodents. As Bruce said peppermint oil works well. We plant mint around the house for a natural barrier and peppermint under the hoods in winter. A few barn cats don't hurt either. Good luck.

When I saw your post I was at first thinking mice in the engine as in the cylinders. I have one tractor that had just that type of problem and had what appeared to be a mouse nest in 3 of the 4 cylinders. The thing purr like a kitten now.
Me I just have to many cats so almost never have a mouse or rat problem. Even have a couple cats that at night will jump the chicken fence and hang out in the chicken pen over night to catch mice

But when u have cats you know u will have cat tracks on all your cars...and I don't like that----especially when some of the tracks are from neighbors cats...But I still like cats...

It's worth a try, but mothballs in the burrow (where nothing else can get to them) would be more effective. But not as effective as a hawk!

Shoot I have dog tracks on my car. One of my dogs loves to jump up on the hood of my car every time he is let out of the house

Boy that brings back memories. I had a dog when I was 18 or 19 out on the ranch. He would always sleep on top off my 63 Fairlane. That was one goofy dog. . Must have been a breeze up there is all I could figger out

Not like he can hurt a 1991 Toyota Corolla since as old as it is the clear coat is peeling off and it has a few dents here and there etc

Might even come up with a new design everybody will want....By the way, how often do you flip your chainsaw bar??

I do not flip my chain saw bar much but then I am lucky if I use my chain saw twice a year. So maybe that is why my chain saw is always hard to start

Dad took his to get it sharpened and he got all excited because Stihl now reads UPSIDE DOWN..NEW SAW-DIDN'T NEED flipped but they did it anyway== Mine is same way as far as not much use but mighty handy when u need them--not running them is worst thing u can do now especially with the junk gas we have--and no I do not drain mine out like I need to when its not going to be used..

With me the only place I burn wood is my shop and maybe even then 2 or 3 times a year on a good year. I can use dead wood so little or no chain sawing is needed. Now back in the 80s when I first moved here I use a chain saw a lot but then I heated my house with wood
