Well, I was using a 15 year old Toro Z150 commercial zero turn I bought at auction for just over a grand, but the hydro pump has started leaking after me using it five years, so it's parked for repairs. Feel like I got a good deal all th same! Now using a similar vintage Kubota rider I bought for my son and his wife, who subsequently moved to an apartment. Forget the model, but it's a water-cooled gas engine, and the mower is very well made with heavy-gage steel and zerks everywhere. Both are 52" decks which is as wide as I can go without scalping.

It takes an hour longer on the Kubota due to numerous fruit and other trees. Doing about 2 acres total.

The 8N and a 5' rotary mower get used on the pasture areas, another couple acres or so.

I got a Husqvarna LGT 2554 (54" deck) at a farm consignment auction last year with a sun shade and front blade w/ chains, new battery and blades and a full tank of gas, for $800. New they were over $2K for just the mower at the big box, so I don't think I did too badly. It has the 2 cyl. Kohler Courage with 500 hrs. on it at the time. It's always run fine, starts right up and blows through the heaviest grass. The hydro is still pretty strong. Just had to fix one caster wheel on the deck that was always coming loose, and the front tires are showing a fair amount of wear but overall I'm very pleased with it. It's cut my mowing time down by 30 - 45 min., even the wife noticed how much less time it takes now.

Given that my Toro cost about $10K new, I feel like I got a steal, even if I'm at the point of needing to rebuild the engine and refurb the hydro pump. I got five years out of it, and it's worth putting some $$ in - thing's built like a tank!
