Not going to the Cub Cadet olace to get one-got at least one cutting season more than I
expected to get from one I got at Advance auto parts-300CCA -any other advice? Thanks

Generally lawn tractor batteries do not last more than a couple of years.

A battery will last much longer if it is charged every 4 or 5 weeks during periods of non use, e.g., off season.

Yes I agree and I did that with this one by encouraging my son to ride the grands behind it in a small yard trailer -I told him and them I did not care how much they run/ride it..How important is ther CCA rating--seems that the better -higher ones have higher cca..Walmart batteries seem to have low price and low cca..

I've been using a Walmart 230 cca L&G battery in my std cub for at least 5 years ...best $20 I ever spent ....

I bought one at sears once that I got eight years out of in my sears mower. usually just go up the road to the local mower shop.

carquest has a low budget lawn tractor battery for 19.95
TSC batteries...dunno without walking outside..230CCA I think for about $25.
Like said, all of the little ones don't last long (4-wheeler, motorcycle batteries included )
regular battery tender use, and putting a rubber pad under them if they sit on a hard surface on the mower helps.
What engine will they crank?....All of my summer use, gas, big tractors have one of those little cheapo lawn tractor batteries in them.
They start fine, and crank briskly.
(they do look a little funny in a big ol Super H though :D )

Got my Cub Cadet 2518 replacement from Auto Zone. Was 300+ CCA for around $40.00. Biggest and cheapest I could find.

That was about 4 years ago and still working fine. I do put a battery tender on it occasionally to keep it all the way up. I also use it in the winter to blow snow so it really never gets a chance to drain all the way down.

Needed to get it going so went to the local Ace Hdwe and paid few dollars more--got the cheap Diehard..working fine-used the mower today--Tender makes all the difference---I keep one on my motorcycle and son's 65 Mustang but nothing else..
