I had no idea I would get so many great replies on my syn oil post. Nobody said my theory would hold water so I wont try it. On my anti-freeze flush someone said that anti-freeze would create a acid and could cause a leak at the freeze plug. I do know that hard water or water ran through a softener will corrode the freeze plug. So I use distilled water and so far so good.

I always use distilled water (and anti freeze) in cooling systems.

Still, common anti freeze should be replaced every two years or so to prevent corrosion.
